What is Renewable Energy?

Renewable energy is defined as the energy from the resources which are naturally occurring or re-occurring on a human timescale. Few examples are sun energy, wind, rain, tides, waves, biomass, and geothermal heat. Renewable energy is today’s basic need to replace the convectional energy resources like, coal, petroleum products, natural gas etc, in four distinct areas: “Electricity generation, hot water/space heating, motor fuel, and Rural (Grid off) energy services”.

Why Renewable Energy is Now Necessity?

Renewable Energy

As we know we are having limited resources of convectional energy and population is continuously increasing so the energy is. Thus if we keep on using these convectional energy resources for energy production, soon these resources will extinct. And for our future generation it will be only available over the internet or on the test book, just like Dinosaurs. Today our life is so much simple by these energy resources and we cannot imagine the life without them. Without these energy resources we will be back to the age of human evolution. Thus we need to find out the alternate energy resources. Thus Renewable energy resources are the replacement of these convectional.

Is Renewable Energy Concept Feasible?

  • Renewable energy concept is carried out widely around the globe. Let’s see what the stats say about it around the globe:
  • Around 16% of global energy consumption is coming from renewable energy resources.
  • 10% energy is coming from bio mass, that is mainly used for heating purpose
  • 3.4% of it is from hydroelectricity
  • Another 3% is coming from the new renewable energy resources (wind energy, ocean energy, geothermal energy, biofuels).
  •  More than 30 nations are using renewable energy resources contributing the world with 20% of energy supply.
  • Wind power generation is growing 30% annually.
  • These stats clearly tell that renewable energy is continuously replacing convectional fossil fuels.

Changing the Scenario

We live in the world full of pollution, now these renewable energy resources will change this as well. Because operation of this cannot produce any green house gases, or smoke and other toxic residue this is environment friendly and better for the expectation of greener world. Thus we can rely more on these resources for better tomorrow. This can control the climatic changes and other hazardous effect on human being caused by convectional energy resources or Non-Renewable resources.

Renewable energy can be also helpful in reducing the country’s energy dependency on other. Thus it can become energy independent state. This can also help in increasing the economic background of the country because the country need not to pay to other country for the energy resource. There are several other benefits of using these renewable resources.
